January 19 – Review by Stefan

Belgium and Heavy Metal music have gone hand in hand since the 80s, you can be sure that I, as a Belgian, was blazing with enthusiasm over the announcement of Fireforce’s latest album “Rage Of War”. This band started in 2008, since then they have made two EPs and 4 full-length albums, the newest including. Over the years, a number of shifts occurred in the lineup, the most notable being the departure of vocalist Filip ‘Flype’ Lemmens. He left the camp after the third album “Annihilate The Evil” (2017). If I’m correctly, guitarist Erwin Suetens is the only remaining member of the original line-up to date. Flype (now active in Beyond The Labyrinth) and Erwin already knew each other from their musical partnership in Double Diamond, a Belgian Metal act we can also be very proud of.

Søren Nico Adamsen became the new frontman for the recording of FireForce’s 4-song EP entitled “The Iron Brigade” (2019), checking out the “Rage Of War” line-up, I noticed these Belgian Combat Metallers have a new singer in the fold named Matt Asselberghs (also delivering finger scorching guitar works). Christophe De Crombe behind the drumkit, on bass we welcome Serge Bastaens. The “Rage Of War” vinyl edition contains 10 songs, if you buy the CD version you have three more songs. FYI: The song called ‘Tale Of The Desert King’ is only audible on LP,  basically you better buy both vinyl and CD to get all the songs in your possession which is not an unnecessary luxury I think because all of the new songs are just brilliant !
