May 21 – IRONBOURNE – IRONBOURNE (Pure Steel Records / Soulfood) – Review by Stefan

The Swedish-born fivesome Ironbourne was formed in 2019, after a previously released single ‘The Dreamer’ they may now present themselves as proud owners of a self-titled full length record. A curious fact about the members is that three of them grew up on the same street. Inseparable, they have always been able to share their devotion to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music throughout many years. Olaf Geijer (guitar), Lars Andersson (bass) and drummer Stefan Viktorsson played together in the unsigned Metal act Mace Sweden. Vocalist Torbjörn Andersson joined forces, he’s the ex-frontman of Metal cover group Deputy and Progmetal formation Hybridia. Finally we have second axe wielder Jonas Windle (Abomination), also active as singer in a Thin Lizzy tribute band Feel Dizzy.

When you have three musicians on board who have lived  as neighbors get the picture of real togetherness… they are very well attuned to each other so it doesn’t surprise me that their debut album, filled with 9 songs spread over a playing time of 51 minutes, sounds very good. Ironbourne has luck entirely on their side as they also have a vocalist in the ranks who knows how to get things done. Torbjörn’s timbre fully meets my personal requirements, powerful and very clear ! Although a minor word of criticism, the highest regions of his head voice are not always easily imo. Maybe I’m too picky and too meticulous about details so forget about it ! READ MORE…
